Praise The Cake Baker

Cake_3

Came home from hitting some balls on Sunday, to find this on the kitchen table.

Suddenly all those mis hits, thin ones and fat ones seemed not to matter so much.

Victoria Sponge tastes good.

And I've got the rest of the Summer to get my swing right!

Bin The Tin

Maybe Harry should 'bin the tin!'

Apparently it is the shafts of modern drivers and modern balls that give us the ability to hit longer.

So Haz could try one of these beauties.

Big Dog Graveyard

Broken_big_dog

The Masters was a tough session for me as I watched the Brit pack blow up at the weekend and my bank account plummet...

So last night I headed out to play nine holes to get the feel good factor back, but things didn't go quite according to plan.

My driver took a bit of a hammering and is now consigned to the Big Dog graveyard!

The good news is that I have a top excuse for a new one. Any recommendations?

Well Done Trevor

He's got a great swing, very compact and punchy, with good balance.

He also held his nerve well, with a couple of great up and downs.

He deserved to win and here's the jacket ceremony:

Trevor dons the green jacket

My two just didn't do the business, Geoff finished on +8 in the end, but as Chairman Billy Payne says - there's always next year!

2nd Round Update

Luke is out! Bogey on 18 cost him dear.

At +4 he just missed out with Fred Couples too, who was going for his 24th consecutive cut.

So it's back to the wine for Luke, click on the link below!

Luke and his wine

Must find out where you can buy a bottle - I consider myself a modern renaissance man too!

Anyway, all is not lost, Geoff is still alive at +2, but thats 10 shots back.

Easy Geoff, one hole at a time.

1st Round Update

Luke is +1

He got down to -3 at one stage, but some bogeys (one double) on the back nine cost him. Still with 5 birdies in the round, he showed the potential to shoot a low one. He tees off for the second round at 18.30 our time tonight.

Geoff is +3

So he's gonna have to step on the gas. He's playing with Luke, so hopefully they can inspire each other!!

Don't tell Harry but I have just raided the petty cash!

Come on Luke!

Come on Geoff!

We can do this.

Royal Sausage Sarnie

Hgatroyalwim

Last weekend I was down in the big smoke and managed to get an invite to play at Royal Wimbledon, which is no easy feat! Luckily I had the silver sticks in the back of the car so I jumped at the chance.

The course is a real gem and a great test of golf. Tree-lined and undulating fairways means accuracy is king. The track has a real heathland feel to it with heather and gorse in abundance.

And if you're having a tough time then the 13th tee will be welcome respite. There is a great halfway house here where you can get the best sausage and bacon sarnies in town!
