Matt Rolls Into Town

MattCov

Matt was back in the UK for a couple of days after his time in Slovenia and Austria.

We managed to get a 4 ball in before he heads to the 'Masters 26 Dijon-Bourgogne'. Starts 26th May.

He was in cruise control for most of the round and then went through the gears to win the match.

Check out the Swing. Pretty tasty!

Golf Environment Organisation

Just come across this site - http://www.golfenvironment.org/

In their own words: "The Golf Environment Organisation is working to make golf better for people and the planet."

Great idea and some great pics but haven't had time to read the text, so I have added them to the 'Links' list in the left hand column under Matt's picture.

Matt Bounces Back

Golf

After a frustrating time at the Lyoness Open, in Austria, Matt bounced back with a strong performance in the Slovenian open.

After easing through the cut, Matt then produced the 7th best round of the day to finish tied 18th. This also moved him up to 39th on the Alps Tour order of merit.

The Tourny was played on the Ptuj course which is named after the town. Ptuj is the oldest town in Slovenian. The prize attraction is the medieval castle which is in view on a lot of the holes.

Eco-friendly Golf Course - Machrihanish Dunes

Mdunes2

Doesn't she look nice!

I read about this course here.

From tee to green all natural - no chemicals or pesticides, just 50 Hebridean Black sheep to keep the grass down.

What a great idea, working in harmony with nature rather than against it.

The course should be open now, but officially opens on the 21st of July.

If you are tempted, the course website is here.

I think we may have to visit in the off season!

It's Tough Out There

Matt finished the Austrian leg of the Alps tour in bittersweet mood.

Over the four days, in the Lyoness Open on the Gut Freiberg course, he produced some sizzling golf at times.

After comfortably making the cut, he was well placed at 7 under after round 3.

However, on the final round he had one of those days - the type of round that makes you want to hurl you clubs and head for the hills.

To his credit, he still managed to finish 46th out of a field of 138.

Whilst some of us would be drowning our sorrows at the bar, Matt instead, will be heading to Slovenia, ready to bounce back at the Ptju Golf Club. Starts 15th May.

Our Man In The East

After Rick's last escapades at the Angkor golf course in Cambodia he has now sent us news of his latest reccy to the King's Island course, near Hanoi in Vietnam.

IMG_1186

He played both the Lakeside course in the morning and then followed up with the Mountain View course in the afternoon. Both courses he said were fantastic although they did expose his lack of fitness! He knocked it round in 18 on the Lakeside and 20 on the Mountain.

In Rick's Words:

"The best bit was that I was the last person playing golf on the island at the end of the day, as the light was fading and everyone else had sensibly caught the ferry home.  But they were happy for me to finish the round and they even turned on the floodlights for the last 3 holes so I could play - by then I'd lost my Korean playing partners, so it was just me, the caddie and the course manager, who drove me in his buggy!  Apart from the floodlights, it reminded me so much of our times playing Braidhills in Edinburgh...last out and not being able to see where the green is, let alone the pin!"

Close But No Cigar

Last weekend Matt pegged it up in the Gosser Open at the Erzherzog Johann golf club, just outside the alpine town of Maria Lankowitz in Austria.

Matt had another solid performance. After day two he was tied 6th at 5 under. In the final round he was in the mix at 7 under, but slipped to 4 under to finish a respectable 19th.

Next stop is the Lyoness Open from 7th-10th May. Stay in touch to see if he can take it to the next level with a top 10 finish!

Ethical Golfwear

Dtat merchandising

dressed to a tee is the only golf clothing company to use 100% organic cotton in all its polo shirts and t-shirts .

Our organic cotton comes from Pakistan and is certified by Skal as being grown 100% organically - no synthetic fertilisers, no soil additives, no defoliants, just good old fashioned soil.

This mimimises the impact on the ecosystem and means we get our hands on top quality organic yarns that produce hard-wearing, super soft polos and t-shirts.

Live The Fair Way.

No Shirt, No Shoes, No Problem

This vid by John Daly is a bit of a gem. It puts in perspective the pedantic dress code of wearing the 'right' coloured socks, tucking your shirt in and not changing your shoes in the car park.

Golf could do with a bit of his no shirt, no shoes, grip & rip it mentality.
