Rye Golf

Played at Rye Golf Club over the weekend.

A very simple but outstanding links course - there is a real spiritual feel to the place.

I think what makes links golf so powerful is that the natural elements are continually influencing your experience - the sea view, the coastal breeze, the humps and bumps of the fairways, the beach sand in the bunkers.

It creates a feeling that nature has built the course rather than man and makes the experience wild and invigorating. I don't think you get that from a parkland course however good it is.

Rinkven Ahead Of The Times

Matt has been on the road in Austria and Belgium.

His game continues to be very solid with two more good finishes. He has only missed one cut this season.

At the 'Uniqa Financelife Open' in Austria he came 28th. He then finished 30th in the 'Omnium of Belgium.'

The latest event was played at the Rinkven Golf Club just outside Antwerp.

As well as being a great track the course is testament to a group of friends, who were driven to found a club that was open to one and all, irrespective of nationality, origin, race or religious affiliation.

25 years ago this was a very refreshing statement. Maybe we should get these guys over here as some of our clubs still seem to be at least a quarter of a century behind the times...

Respect to the boys from Rinkven. You did good!
